In a tragic incident, the body of Ali Ahmed Jokhio, 71, vice president of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in Badin district and a close associate of the late Shaheed Fazil Rahu, was found near Rahu’s mausoleum. Jokhio, who had left his residence on Kadhan Road late last night, drove to Rahuki and parked his vehicle near the guesthouse of former provincial minister Muhammad Ismail Rahu.
When his body was discovered, a handwritten note was found wrapped in a plastic bag around his neck. Police conducted a post-mortem examination of the body at the Golarchi Taluka Hospital and later handed it over to the family. As the body was brought to Badin, hundreds of mourners gathered at his residence, where scenes of deep grief and sorrow unfolded.
Ali Ahmed Jokhio was a staunch companion of Shaheed Fazil Rahu during the MRD movements of 1983 and 1986 and stood by him in all popular struggles. His funeral prayers were offered in his native village, Qabil Jokhio, near Badin, and he was laid to rest in the family graveyard.
